- Peel and core 3 quinces, cut into small pieces
- 6 cloves
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- punch nutmeg
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 granny smith apples peeled and cut slightly larger than quince
- Put quince in heavy based pan with spices, noney and water
- Stir to combine & place over low, cover stirring now and then for 10 minutes till fruit can be easily cut with a spoon.
- Add apples & cook for another 10 minutes until apple softens a little.
- Increase heat and stir until most of liquid has evaporated.
- Don’t dry out too much.
- Put mixture into baking dish, discarding cloves.
- Put crumble on top and cook in oven for approx 30 minutes until slightly browned.
CRUMBLE
- 100G BUTTER
- 1/2 cup self raising flour
- 1/2 cup slightly packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cups desicated coconut
- Rub butter unto flour, mix in other ingredients and spread over fruit
