Quince and Apple Crumble

  • Peel and core 3 quinces, cut into small pieces
  • 6 cloves
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • punch nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 3 granny smith apples peeled and cut slightly larger than quince
  • Put quince in heavy based pan with spices, noney and water
  • Stir to combine & place over low, cover stirring now and then for 10 minutes till fruit can be easily cut with a spoon.
  • Add apples & cook for another 10 minutes until apple softens a little.
  • Increase heat and stir until most of liquid has evaporated.
  • Don’t dry out too much.
  • Put mixture into baking dish, discarding cloves.
  • Put crumble on top and cook in oven for approx 30 minutes until slightly browned.

CRUMBLE

  • 100G BUTTER
  • 1/2 cup self raising flour
  • 1/2 cup slightly packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cups desicated coconut
  • Rub butter unto flour, mix in other ingredients and spread over fruit
